Welcome Home America’s Hero’s Celebration
University Of Southern Florida – Sundome
March 13, 2010
Article by Robert Harris – “ Sky Soldier”
After two days of rainy nasty weather Saturday 13 March brought Sunny Sky’s. The Veteran Tribute Bike traveled to the University of Southern Florida in Tampa to lend its support to the “Welcome Home America’s Heroes Celebration”, for after all , that’s what the Veterans Tribute Bike is all about.
Inside the Sundome was filled with every kind of help and support groups imaginable to offer their services. It brought tears to my eyes. Us Vietnam Vets got nothing when we returned home but it did my heart well to see the tremendous support for our returning Veterans today. ( Better late than never).
I along with Carla G. Spence was more than happy to present a check to Wendy Hellickson , Program Supervisor for the Department Of Veterans Affairs on behalf of American Vets Tribute Bike , Inc., which will go to health Care for Homeless Veterans. Helping to get our homeless Vets off the streets was why American Vets Tribute Bike, Inc., was formed in the first place.

We left USF in the afternoon and traveled to O’ Brien’s Irish Pub in Brandon to lend our support to American Veterans Post # 44 of Brandon’s fundraising efforts. The ways they help their community are just to many to mention in this article. I don’t knew how much money the Tribute Bike raised but we handed over the entire donation can to the AM Vets to help fund their many worthwhile projects. Even won “ Best Of Show “ and a plack in the Born To Ride Show to put the cap on a totally wonderful day.

The Tribute Bike will take a short break as I have my Agent Orange Cancerous Prostate removed but will be back raising funds for worthy organizations as soon as I am able.
Until then remember that freedom is not free.
We are the home of the free because of the brave .
All gave some – some gave all.
Time was served – Time to honor.
The nation which forgets its defenders will itself be forgotten.
If you love and enjoy your freedom donation to organizations which help the defenders of your freedoms who need your help.
God Bless You.
God Bless America.
